National Symposium on Embracing Transformation in Indian Libraries

The National Symposium on "Embracing Transformation in Indian Libraries: Navigating Challenges and Innovations in a Dynamic World" was organized by the Libraries of Vellalar Group of Institutions in collaboration with the Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science (SALIS) on March 21, 2025, at Srinivasa Ramanujan Hall, VET IAS Campus, Erode. The event aimed to explore the evolving role of libraries in the digital age, addressing key challenges such as policy changes, digital inclusivity, adaptability, and stakeholder engagement. Dr. A. Manoharan, Rtd. Professor, Bishop Heber College, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of digital knowledge platforms and library innovations.

The symposium featured four technical sessions led by eminent resource persons: Dr. A. Manoharan discussed government policies and regulations shaping libraries, Dr. T. Senthil Kumar highlighted readiness and adaptation strategies for digital transformation, Dr. S. Swaminathan addressed the role of stakeholders in library modernization, and Dr. [Fr] John Neelankavil examined the challenges faced by libraries today. The event promoted eco-friendly library spaces, knowledge sharing, and professional networking, inspiring participants to implement innovative solutions in their institutions. The symposium successfully fostered discussions on sustainable, technology-driven, and inclusive library development, ensuring that libraries remain relevant and impactful in a rapidly evolving world.
