Industry Academia Connect

VET IAS School of Computing & Coding Club, successfully conducted the much-anticipated Industry Academia Connect (IAC-2025) event on 18th & 19th February 2025, offering a comprehensive platform for students to engage with industry leaders and enhance their career prospects. The event began with a warm welcome address by Thiru C. Balasubramanian, Trustee of Vellalar Educational Trust, who emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in shaping students’ futures. Dr. V.P. Nallasamy, Principal of the College, delivered the inaugural address, highlighting the institution's commitment to fostering industry-ready professionals.
The first session was led by Mr. Navaneethakrishnan Ramanathan, Chairman of IEEE Madras Section, who shared valuable insights on “Navigating Your Career in the 21st Century”. His talk focused on the emerging opportunities within the industry sector and the essential skills needed to succeed in today's fast-paced world.
In the second session, Dr. P. Ilango, Group Technical Manager at HCL Tech, Chennai, took students through the “ML Model Building – A Complete Pipeline”. Dr. Ilango also led a panel discussion on industry expectations, providing students with a deep understanding of real-world challenges and opportunities. In the third session, Mr. G. Saravanan, AVP of Academic Operations at ICT Academy, spoke about “Recent Trends in the IT Sector” during the third session. He shed light on the challenges faced by academic professionals in adapting to the ever-changing demands of the industry, urging students to bridge the gap between their academic knowledge and industry requirements.
The fourth session, “Bridging the Gap from Academia to Industry – Mastering Career Transitions”, was delivered by Mr. Syed Isfahan Shakeel, HR Specialist at Amazon, Bengaluru. In this engaging session, Mr. Shakeel discussed essential career transition strategies and conducted live interviews with students, offering valuable feedback on interview techniques, job performance, and career development. He also highlighted job opportunities at Amazon, inspiring students to pursue careers in global tech companies.
The final session of the day was conducted by Mr. Krishnadevan Purushothaman, Lead TSE at MongoDB, Bengaluru. His talk, “Hack Your Future: Skill Development and Competitive Edge”, focused on the importance of developing technical expertise and staying ahead of the curve in a competitive job market. Students were provided with guidance on how to enhance their skills and become more competitive in the tech industry.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, recognizing the contributions of all the speakers and the participants. IAC-2025 proved to be an invaluable experience for students, offering them a clear perspective on career opportunities, industry trends, and the importance of continuous learning.
