German languages

VETIAS Club organized an Orientation Program on the German Language for Beginners, specifically designed for the 2023-2026 batch students, which took place from 18th December 2024 to 28th December 2024. Dr. M. Sarikaa, a German Language Trainer from Chennai, served as the resource person for this program.
On Day 1, the session focused on introducing the importance of learning the German language and laying its foundational aspects. Dr. Sarikaa emphasized how the German language opens up various academic, professional, and cultural opportunities. She provided an overview of its structure, basic grammar, and pronunciation, ensuring students grasped the essentials to kick-start their learning journey.
On Day 2, participants were introduced to basic vocabulary in German, including continents, countries, and languages. The focus was on everyday expressions such as asking someone's name, inquiring about how someone is, and small conversations. Listening exercises were done, and extensive speaking practice was conducted to encourage active participation from all students. On Days 3 & 4, a speaking formative assessment was conducted, followed by an introduction to numbers from 0 to 20 in German. Games were played to help students memorize the numbers, and listening exercises focused on numbers were conducted. Students also learned how to inquire about and state their age in German.
On Day 5, the session aimed to highlight the significance of learning the German language and establish its basic principles. Dr. Sarikaa highlighted the wide range of academic, professional, and cultural opportunities that proficiency in German can unlock. She also provided an introduction to the language’s structure, fundamental grammar, and pronunciation, ensuring that students understood the key elements to begin their learning journey.
On Days 6 & 7, Batch 2 students explored foundational German vocabulary, including terms related to continents, countries, and languages. They practiced everyday phrases, such as introducing themselves, asking someone's name, and checking on someone's well-being. To reinforce learning, listening exercises were integrated, and dynamic speaking activities encouraged active student engagement.
The final day centered around the theme of "My Family," where students learned to describe their families using simple sentences in German. Assessments were conducted through speaking and writing exercises, followed by a feedback session to review the learning outcomes. Dr. M. Sarikaa commended the students for their dedication and encouraged them to continue exploring the German language further.
